Though different people have different reasons to take up bodybuilding, they need to follow a regular routine and remember some basic rules while working out. Here are a few rules that you can follow to start a safe bodybuilding workout session:

  • You should have a good idea about your own body. Generally, humans are divided into three body types- ectomorph, endomorph, and mesomorph. Having some idea about the purpose of each and every muscle in your body would also help. In case you are not sure about what body type you have, you can seek professional help.
  • If you are a beginner, start slowly. Don’t push yourself too much, as doing so could cause injuries.
  • In order to build muscle, you will have to take good care of your diet. A nutritious diet will help you get burn adequate calories while also boosting your metabolism. It is suggested that eating every three hours is a good idea, as this will rev up your metabolic rate.
  • Decide what muscle groups you want to develop and focus on them. Work one muscle at a time and spread your workout session throughout the week.
  • Indulge in strength building exercises, but do not hurt yourself. You can always seek the guidance of a trainer if you are not sure about what to do, or how to proceed.
  • While charting a bodybuilding workout routine, do not forget to include rest days. It is a good idea to have every alternate day as a rest day. Rest is important for your body, and more specifically, for your muscles. Taking a break will help your muscles recover from your intensive workouts.
  • Never overdo anything. Overworking your body will only hurt you and make you prone to injury, so know your limits. You should also find out if you have any specific illness that prevents you from doing certain exercises. If necessary, do not hesitate to consult a doctor.
  • Remember- Rome was not built in a day. Your muscles will take time to develop. Exercise hard, eat a balanced diet replete with proteins and carbohydrates, and take rest. You will see the difference over time.

Follow the above guidelines to formulate a great workout session.
